Foot and Ankle Pain

The foot and ankle form intricate structures vital for supporting the body, absorbing shock, and facilitating movement. Comprising bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons, they work together to distribute weight, provide stability, and enable dynamic motion. Proper alignment and function are crucial for preventing injuries and maintaining overall physical well-being.

Foot and ankle pain can sometimes be related to dysfunction in the hips, knees and lower back. For instance, when the lumbar spine (lower back) experiences issues such as herniated discs, nerve compression, or misalignment, it can affect the nerves that travel down the leg and into the foot and ankle. This can result in symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness in the foot and ankle region.

At Prospine Chiropractic, we understand how much foot and ankle pain can influence on daily life and overall well-being. We take a detailed medical history, perform a thorough physical examination specifically to the foot and ankle and surrounding areas to identify any areas of restricted movement or misalignment. This may involve assessing your posture, gait, range of motion, orthopaedic tests, muscle strength, stability, and any signs of inflammation or swelling.

Based on the evaluation, we may recommend a combination of chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapies, exercises, modalities, lifestyle modifications, and other interventions to alleviate your foot and ankle pain and improve joint function.
